Online Advertising Sales

Today I started a new job, selling online advertising to businesses in my area. I have never done this before and have really no idea how to start, so I just went to about 10 businesses and pitched the site. I went to about 10 businesses, which is not a lot but with no clue how to sell it got rejected by 9 of them and possibly could get a sale out of one of them. I would like to know if anybody can help me and give me tips on how to sell online advertising to businesses. A little about the website that I am working for, it is called Canadian Networker and it is an online business directory for local businesses in Ontario Canada. How should I pitch this to businesses, well i am gonna do research for a day and create a plan when I go out and talk to more businesses in the next couple of days, any advice would be helpful.

Fake Sterling Silver Jewelry

Recently I purchased some jewelry and it was stamped 925, which normally means that it is sterling silver, and you might already know I am a collector of silver. The jewelry was very heavy and even though I don't have a good knowledge yet of the industry I felt that at the time the price was right so I bought some of it. I take it to a local dealer that i know and he ends up buying it, with the knowledge that it is sterling silver jewelry. One week later he informs me that the jewelry is counterfeit sterling silver, I was shocked because I purchased over $100 of it. I then do some research and find out that there is a lot of fake sterling silver jewelry going around, and even though it is stamped 925 it doesn't mean that it is real sterling silver. There are a few tests that you can do to prevent yourself from falling for the same scam that I fell for, the first is not to buy silver from China, especially if the price is well under the spot price of silver. The second test is the acid test, you have to buy a silver test kit. Please do not buy jewelry if you feel that the price is too low because chances are that it is not real.

Stock Market

I am sure that there are a lot of investors on the internet so I have decided to share some of my thoughts on the stock market. I invested 2 years ago in the stock market and I got hammered on the fees to buy and sell my stocks, I ended up losing my job halfway through the year and decided that I would just get killed with fees so I got out while I still had some money left. The stock market is like the casino, the house always wins, no matter if you do or not. My knowledge of the stock market gained over the months that i was investing and held some mining and oil stocks before retiring from the stock market to pursue the silver market, which has been doing very well lately. Bottom line is that there is no such thing as easy money, if you think that you are gonna invest in the stock market and win big, you are in for a surprise. If it is too good to be true chances are that it is.

What is going on with Silver?

Is anybody seeing what is going on with Silver? It is up over $26 an ounce as of Friday and boy am I glad that I have invested in Silver over the past 2 years. I got into it around $13 an ounce and on most of my investments I have doubled, but is it bound for more. Experts believe Silver to be over the $50 an ounce range in the near future and with the fear of inflation more and more people are going towards gold and silver as a hedge against inflation. Another big reason why Silver is going up is the industrial demand that this commodity has. It is used in hospitals, clothing, and even computers and cell phones. If you have not jumped on the Silver bandwagon I would suggest that you jump on.

Here we go again, back to the grind and will be starting a new job in about a week. My job is in b2b sales. Lets hope that it goes well

Car Salesman

I recently got a job at a car dealership in my hometown. When i started i was told that i would be getting base+commission, i was trained for 2 weeks, then 2 weeks shadowing as I would like to call it. During the 3rd week i was last to talk to customers, by default I was told. So i get called into the office earlier this week to go over my leads, i talk to the owner, he asks me what i think of the job and naturally i tell him that i like it, even though it is very boring because there are not customers coming into the dealership. So before i start the leave the owner tells me that i need to get on the board and sell some cars, i tell him that i have only been there for 2 weeks and that i am trying to do the best i can. The reason why i am writing this blog is to tell you that being a car salesman is not what it is cracked up to be. It makes for very long days and when there are not a lot of customers coming in then you don't have the chance to get in. I was told by both my manager and owner if I knew any friends and family that are looking to buy a car, even if i want to buy a car because the dealership gives a car allowance, but only if i make more to cover the draw. The draw is money that is given to you before you get your commission check, of course you have to pay it back. 2 incidents in the last month that I have been there are crucial moments to my car salemsn expereince. First is that the owner told me that I was getting expensive and need to sell a car, I replied by telling him that I am trying the best that i can, the second wsa in a meeting that i had yesterday, i told my manager that i lost 2 deals to another dealership and the reply of my manager is that i dropped the ball. So here i am in a major dilemma, well not really, the bottom line is i need to find other means of making income. I am already feeling the stress of a car salesman, being a car salesman is a really stressful job, and if you don't like the dealership it makes for long and boring days.

Superbowl Prediction

This is gonna be a great superbowl and I hope that it is decided in the last minute of play. Both teams are very evenly matched but I will have to give the edge to the more experienced Indianopolis Colts. Manning the more experienced quarterback and all year the Colts have been more consistent than the New Orlean Saints. I can see this superbowl being even better than last year's nailbiter.

New Years Resolution

Well here we are again, another year down. My resolution this year is to eat healthier because I am not getting any younger and can start to feel the heat when it comes to my aching bones. I have a habit of complaining so I will bring that to a minimum. As for who is gonna win the superbowl, I like the Chargers to beat the Packers this year. My Chicago Blackhawks will win the stanley cup. It is Cleveland Cavaliers year in basketball. I like the Anaheim Angels to win in baseball world series. The stock market should continue to climb and the fed will keep prining more money. This means trouble for us in about 5 years or so. To all my thousands of fans out there, thanks for viewing my posts and I hope that the new year is good for you. Actually I could care less if you have a good year or not. Really does it really matter that i would even have to wish you a happy new year. Oh well, I just hope that I can win a couple of games this year.
